Why yes, that's Tilda Swinton protesting "fast fashion"

Tilda Swinton may not know what "fast fashion" is, but that hasn't stopped the Scottish actress from standing up against it. In fact, she made it the focus of her latest performance piece: an interactive "play" that saw her in the role of a cloak attendant who examined, caressed, licked, and conversed with various articles of audience members' clothing. Taking place in Florence last month, Cloakroom was as much a commentary on the dying art of hospitality as it was about the "soul of clothes," Swinton told i-D afterward. "It's very much looking at the fetish of newness and the fetish of appearance," Swinton said. "It's not really about appearance at all, it's about spirit, I suppose, and the life lived in these garments."
