Spruce-clad Öijared Hotel quietly blends into the surrounding Swedish forest:

Designed to complement architect Gert Wingårdhs’ green-roofed Öijared Country Club, the Öijared Hotel was similarly designed with a nature-inspired, neutral-toned palette. In contrast to the country club, which features a horizontal profile that’s partially buried beneath ground, the Öijared Hotel is slightly elevated above the forest floor, while the timber cladding emphasizes its verticality. The unfinished strips of spruce give the hotel a textured and natural appearance. The building was painted a dark red to create a strong visual contrast with the light-toned timber.
