Leading Irish solar developer to expand into US market

Irish renewable energy developer BNRG has pledged $200 million to developing solar energy in the United States. This marks the Dublin-based company’s first venture into the US energy market. Until now, it has operated primarily in Europe, with the majority of its projects located in the United Kingdom. Local developers in the northeastern region of New England and the northwest state of Oregon have given BNRG the rights to develop 140MW of utility-scale solar energy. The total cost of construction and installation is expected to reach the $200 million mark and is scheduled to begin next year. Both projects have already got state-backed power purchase agreements, in which a US state agrees to buy power at index-linked prices for a period of 20 years.
