US wind market will be easier to crack once the PTC fades away, says Canadian renewables IPP Innergex:

Innergex, the Canadian renewables IPP, believes the phase-down of the production tax credit (PTC) will make it more competitive in the US wind market, and is considering acquiring a US developer to take advantage of the transitioning market. With the amount of near-term development opportunities declining in Ontario and Québec, Montréal-based Innergex, which owns nearly 1GW of purely renewables capacity, has turned to new markets for growth, mostly outside of Canada. In 2017 Innergex will focus on “replenishing our portfolio of development projects and seizing acquisition opportunities, in Canada and abroad”, chief executive Michel Letellier said Friday.
