Offshore wind farm would generate thousands of jobs for South Carolina, study shows

The report, which was prepared by Clemson University’s Restoration Institute (future home of a wind drive-train testing facility) and its Strom Thurmond Institute of Government and Public Affairs details the extent of South Carolina’s wind-energy industry in 2012. It also goes on to illustrate how the state’s financial landscape could look after development of an offshore wind farm. The report, S.C. Wind Energy Supply Chain Survey and Offshore Wind Economic Impact Study , was prepared for South Carolina's Energy Office. It shows that a 1,000 MW offshore wind farm constructed between 2016 and 2025 would create an average of more than 3,800 jobs per year throughout the 10-year construction period.
