Image: Duke Energy Due in large part to the dramatic growth in the renewable-energy market, Duke Energy has accelerated its 2020 renewable-energy goal by 33%. Duke Energy expects to own or buy 8000MW of wind, solar and biomass capacity by 2020 — a 33% increase from its previous goal of 6000MW set back in 2013. Cari Boyce, vice president, Policy, Sustainability and Stakeholder Strategy, said: "Duke Energy is accelerating the pace of our renewable energy program allowing us to increase our goal for wind, solar and biomass on our system. Renewable energy will continue to be a growing part of our generation mix in the future."
