Urge your Senator to Support Strong Energy Efficiency Provisions in the Senate Energy Bill

Dear Energy Efficiency Advocates: As the snow melts and Washington thaws, the U.S. Senate is set to take up and consider S. 2012, the Energy Policy Modernization Act of 2015. This comprehensive energy bill, which passed out of committee on a strong bipartisan vote, encompasses a wide range of provisions aimed at addressing the needs of our nation’s energy sector. Energy efficiency is one of the central pillars of S. 2012, which includes provisions that will lead to significant gains across multiple sectors. The Alliance supports S. 2012 because of its strong efficiency title, and we have identified four priorities that should guide the Senate’s work on the bill: 1) preservation of the current role of the U.S. Department of Energy in the building energy code adoption process , 2) inclusion of the SAVE Act, which would allow the inclusion of energy efficiency in the resident...
