Enel Green Power Builds 254 MW Solar Power Plant In Brazil

Enel Green Power (EGP) has begun construction on the Ituverava solar power plant in Brazil's Bahia state that will generate more than 550 GWh of energy per year. The plant, once completed, will have a total installed capacity of 254 MW and, consequently, will be the company's largest solar power plant under construction. According to EGP, Ituverava will be able to generate enough energy to meet the annual consumption needs of more than 268,000 Brazilian households while avoiding the emission of over 185,000 tones of carbon dioxide each year. EGP will invest approximately $400 million of its own funds into the construction, while the project will be supported by a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Chamber of Commercialisation of Electric Energy. The new plant is expected to be completed and to enter into service by the end of 2017.
