Kuwait to test crystalline and CIGS modules side-by-side 30. November 2015 | Applications & Installations , Research & Development , Market & Trends | By: Jonathan Gifford The Kuwait Shagaya Renewable Energy Project will install crystalline silicon PV modules alongside CIGS thin film, to test the technologies at PV power plant scale in a 10 MW facility. Japan’s Solar Frontier has announced it will be supplying 5 MW of modules to the facility. Solar Frontier has an important reference project for its CIS modules at the vast Saudi Aramco solar carport installation. Solar Frontier Thin film providers have long claimed that the technology’s advantageous temperature co-efficient delivers more kWh production, when compared to crystalline silicon (c-Si) per kWp.
