Experts Expect Big Boom in US Solar Installation Due to Bond Financing

Experts Expect Big Boom in U.S. Solar Installation Due to Bond Financing Thursday, July 12th 2012 4:53 PM By GetSolar Staff. New financing options may lead to a large spike in rooftop solar installations in the United States, according to a recent Bloomberg article. New solar financing options such as leasing have led to more businesses and homeowners installing solar energy projects. However, Bank of America and Citigroup are close to developing the solar industry's first bonds. The new bonds are a form of asset-backed funding through which investors will be paid by the revenue generated from a pool of solar installations. According to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, asset-backed securities began in 1985 and turned into a $1.2 billion market that year.
