Mississippi Power to develop 52MW solar project

Plans for 52MW plant are pending approval by the Mississippi Public Service Commission. Image: Strata Solar Mississippi Power has agreed to partner with Origis Energy to develop a 52MW solar project on 196 hectares in Sumrall, Mississippi. The plans are pending approval by the Mississippi Public Service Commission. If approved, the projects could be in service near the end of 2016. In April, Mississippi Power partnered with two solar businesses and the US Navy in order to develop and construct two PV installations within the state, totaling 53MW in generation capacity. Mississippi Power president and chief executive Ed Holland said: “Adding a third renewable project continues the company's commitment to having a diverse generation portfolio to help keep rates affordable for our customers.
