SunEdison signs Rajasthan MoU for 5GW of solar farms

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by global solar developer SunEdison and the state government of Rajasthan, India to build 5GW of solar. Multiple ‘mega’ sized solar installations, each 500MW and above will be built, making Rajasthan a ‘solar hub’ of India, according to SunEdison. As part of the MoU agreement, the Rajasthan state government will help with identifying suitable land for the solar developments, and will provide grid and interconnection infrastructure. The 5GW proposal is in line with state government ambition for 25GW of solar in the next five years; the MoU signed by Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia.
