DCNS, Alderney Renewable Energy Sign Agreement for Tidal Power Development

DCNS says that the area between the Cotentin peninsula and Alderney has one of the greatest tidal currents in the world and is capable of generating several gigawatts worth of power. Recently, DCNS assembled the turbine and subsea base of a 2-MW unit for OpenHydro Group Ltd. off France's northern Brittany coast. Meanwhile, ARE is currently planning a small pumped-storage hydro project on the island of Alderney in the Channel Islands.
