National University, the second-largest private, nonprofit college institution in California, recently benefited from the installation of rooftop solar power systems to make the school more energy efficient. The school was founded in 1971 and is the 12th-largest college in the United States. The institution of higher learning has 22,000 full-time students and 129,000 alumni, spread across 100 graduate and undergraduate degrees that can be obtained at the university and 70 degree programs that can be taken over the internet. Given the size of the school, it has significant energy needs, spurring the solar installation.
