Valero raises annual biofuel production capacity to 1.3 billion gallons

Valero Energy Corporation has acquired their 11th ethanol plant in Mount Vernon, Indiana. Through their wholly owned subsidiary, Valero Renewable Fuels Company, Valero purchased a corn ethanol plant from Aventine Renewable Energy – Mt. Vernon, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aventine Renewable Energy Holdings, Inc. The Mount Vernon plant has an annual production capacity of 110 million gallons. It is the second corn ethanol facility that Valero has obtained in Indiana. The addition will give Valero an annual ethanol production capacity of 1.3 billion gallons. “We're looking forward to hiring employees, restarting the plant and producing ethanol," said Martin Parrish, Valero's vice president of Alternative Energy and Development.
