Locally sited wind farms receive 70 per cent approval rating 28 Oct 2013 An opinion poll has found that 70 per cent of UK residents are in favour of locally-sited wind farms. The independent survey, commissioned by the Mail on Sunday by the company Survation, found 70 per cent of respondents backed wind farms being built nearby. A clear majority was found across the political spectrum, too, with 60.8 per cent of Conservative voters, 74.6 per cent of Labour, and 81.1 per cent of Liberal Democrat voters all in favour. When asked to choose between fracking and wind farms in their local area, 31.9 per cent back a fracking plant whilst 68.1 per cent said they’d choose wind farms. Again, more voters chose wind regardless of their political persuasions.
