Solar Companies Team Up With Habitat for Humanity

Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) coordinated with SolarCity, Trina Solar, SolarUS, SES 21, SolarTrek, Schletter and Bosch Solar Energy to donate residential PV systems to 15 Dallas-area Habitat for Humanity homes. “I can’t think of a better way to kick off SPI than right here at this Habitat for Humanity solar installation,” said Tom Kimbis, Vice President of SEIA. A crowd gathered to watch SolarCity install PV panels donated by Trina Solar. The home is also equipped with a solar hot water system donated by SolarUS. “The systems being installed will save these homeowners thousands of dollars each year. This project demonstrates that solar works in America,” said Kimbis. Habitat for Humanity ensures that each homeowner is well equipped to maintain the energy-efficient home. “The application process is quite comprehensive,” said Beverly Stibbens, Director of Corpor...
