It’s often been argued that a Green Bank is the key to pushing our current economy over the “green” hill. The implementation of Green Banks has been discussed for quite some time. It’s been spoken of in multiple Brookings Reports, including that of Daniel Zwirn (Trustee, The Brookings Institution) and Darrell M. West (Vice President and Director of Governance Studies). Defined as a publicly owned bank intended to open credit markets and drive business to invest in clean tech, their primary focus is to utilize financial apparatus to work with the private sector to develop and position energy-efficiency technologies. Despite our current recession, green banks are sprouting up all around the country (i.e. – First Green Bank , FL).
