Solar Market Looking Strong In US and Globally: Solar power installations in the US increased more than 50 perce...

Solar Market Looking Strong In U.S. and Globally Tuesday, September 20th 2011 1:25 PM By GetSolar Staff. Solar power installations in the U.S. increased more than 50 percent in 2010, despite a recent financial crisis and somewhat normalized energy prices after their 2008 spike. Nonetheless, critics are quick to point out that solar power still accounts for less than 1 percent of electricity in the U.S., a country still dominated by coal, oil and natural gas. The U.S. Energy Information Administration recently released its annual report on the global energy sector, "International Energy Outlook 2011." The report notes that energy usage worldwide is expected rise dramatically over the next two decades, increasing 53 percent between 2008 and 2035 with a substantial portion coming from the major emerging economies of China and India.
