Promising Solar Power Technologies -cool blog

yesterday ran an article about some promising new solar innovations. It mentioned Dye Sensitive Solar Cells, which Ohio researchers are working on. We have covered this topic before with this blog post about Professor Michael Grätzel, Director of the Laboratory of Photonics and Interfaces at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Grätzel won the 2010 Millennium Technology Prize with his research on dye-sensitized solar cells. And what is this technology? Dye-sensitized solar cells are described as “artificial photosynthesis” and they present an alternative to standard silicon photovoltaics. The advantages? Low cost materials and easier manufacturing.
