, that has lately been in the news with talks about its insolvency, has signed an agreement with the government of Honduras to develop what according to the company will be the largest photovoltaic plant in all of Central America. Installation is due to start in late 2013. The PV plant will generate up to 240,000 MWh per year and supply up to 140,000 Honduran families with green electricity. Honduras has high levels of sunshine and plans to reduce its dependency on fossil fuels in power generation. Isofotón has already agreed to the construction of a 50 MW PV plant in the Dominican Republic and has signed another agreement with the National Electricity Council of Ecuador to develop a 50 MW plant.
