Saipem signs MoU for the development of new California renewable energy plant

The plant will be located in southern California, in Imperial County, which is expected to become a major international hub for production of renewable energy. It will generate electricity from renewable sources and produce biomethane and other secondary products derived from sugar cane cultivated on site. Commencement of activities on the site is subject to the finalisation of financial agreements, following which the contract between the two companies will be signed. Saipem will be responsible for the design and construction of the non-electrical part of the entire project and related services, while the electrical part will be assigned to General Electric.
