Read @rechargenews on #markets: WPD and @Orsted big winners as Taiwan awards offshore wind

Taiwan’s economics ministry has awarded European companies Wpd, Orsted and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners the bulk of 3.84GW in offshore wind grid connection capacity on offer in the island nation's first round for wind at sea. Taiwanese developer Swancor was also among the winners, as were Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), Northland Power, and state-owned Taiwan Power Company (Taipower). Wpd German developer Wpd with 1GW won the biggest chunk in grid connection capacity for its 650-700MW Yunlin projects, and the 350MW Guanyin project. "Everybody who followed us during the last year knows that our main focus for Yunlin is the speedy construction completed in 2020. While the acknowledgment of this approach by the Government is really great news, we will now concentrate on tying together contractors, banks and investors for this important goal”, says Achim Berge ...
