Read @rechargenews: @WindEurope optimistic on Polish offshore wind development

While the outlook for offshore wind for the coming years is good in Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands and UK, the same will soon be true for Poland, said WindEurope chief executive Giles Dickson. “It’s true, they [the Polish government] have not been very friendly to onshore wind,” he acknowledged, speaking at the opening session of the 15th DNV GL Hamburg Offshore Wind Conference. Dickson argued that Polish leaders did recognise they have an economic and industrial policy interest in developing offshore wind projects because they create a lot of jobs. “They successfully converted many of the shipbuilding areas into manufacturing for foundations, jack-up vessels and cranes,” he said.
